Like most beautiful places, the journey to get there is just as breathtaking as the final destination. Elafonisi was no different. We drove in from Chania on the north side of the island. The road crosses a rugged and scenic mountain, winds through a tunnel barely wide enough for one car, and eventually drops down to a stunning natural landscape. Along the mountainside drive, there are a handful of beautiful villages and towns that you must weave through. Each one...

I took this photo while walking down the Malecón in Havana, Cuba. The sun was setting, I didn’t have my tripod, and there wasn’t much natural light. I was terrified that I wouldn’t be able to capture the scene. If you look closely you will see an older gentleman cooking food on his front stoop. The sound of birds chirping, the smell of bloomed flowers, and a tinge of salt water float into the room reminding me that I am near the beach. The air is warm. The constant breeze is a welcome...

We ended up here by complete accident. Our route from Puerto Escondido to Mexico City was closed, turning what was supposed to be a leisurely 5 hour drive into a winding and mountainous 10 hour adventure. A last-second detour prevented any thoughts of preplanning our new route. There was no mental preparation for possible obstacles or time to contemplate the best way for us to navigate the backroads through small mountain towns. After a much needed pep talk, we drove...
